WealthTrim is a free online subscription cost calculator that helps users track, analyze, and reduce recurring expenses.
Data used by the calculator
Calculations use only the information entered by the user: expense name, monthly cost, category, and optional renewal date. WealthTrim does not connect to a bank account or automatically verify bills.
Monthly recurring total
The total monthly spend is the sum of the monthly cost of every active item in the tracker.
Monthly total = expense 1 + expense 2 + all remaining expenses
Annual burn rate
Each monthly recurring cost is projected across twelve months. The annual burn rate is the sum of those yearly projections.
Monthly recurring cost × 12 = yearly cost
This assumes the monthly price stays unchanged and the expense remains active for the full year.
Category totals
Expenses are grouped by the category selected by the user. The calculator adds the monthly costs in each group, then compares each category total with the overall monthly total to display its relative share.
Top expense
The top expense is the active item with the highest monthly cost. If two items have the same cost, the first matching item in the current list is shown.
Estimated savings
If one item exists, the savings insight projects the yearly cost of that item. If two or more items exist, it adds the two highest monthly costs and multiplies that sum by twelve. The displayed savings estimate is rounded to the nearest whole dollar.
This is a scenario, not a promise: it shows what could be saved if those expenses were fully removed for a year. It does not account for cancellation fees, partial refunds, taxes, price changes, or replacement services.
Renewal dates
Renewal reminders are based on dates entered by the user. They are informational and remain inside the browser; WealthTrim does not currently send email, push, or calendar notifications.
Limitations
- Results are estimates based on user-entered data.
- The calculator assumes monthly costs repeat for twelve months.
- Taxes, variable pricing, discounts, annual billing terms, and currency conversion are not automatically included.
- WealthTrim does not verify that an expense is active or that its price is current.
- Calculator results are educational and are not financial advice.
Privacy and storage
No login or bank connection is required. Calculator data is stored locally in the user's browser using localStorage. WealthTrim does not receive the expense names, prices, categories, or renewal dates entered into the calculator.
